Mrs. Jennifer Tonzi Furnia
Mrs. Furnia is the mother of three boys, an original founder of JPII Academy, and has over 10 years experience as an educational professional. Mrs. Furnia has a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Math from SUNY Geneseo. Her professional experience includes roles as a middle and high school math teacher, the Math Department Coordinator, Math Instructional Support Specialist and the yearbook advisor. Jennifer spearheaded several fundraisers with her classes such as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital math-a-thons, Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, and for a student who underwent a heart transplant. She has served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity and volunteered as confirmation instructor & cheer leading coach at Holy Family. Jennifer is a private math tutor and is the Chair of the Holy Family Pastoral Council.
Mrs. Sandra Thurston
Mrs. Thurston earned a Bachelor's in Political Science from State University College at Fredonia, a Master's from State University at Oswego, and her New York State Certifications in Reading Education K-12 and Elementary Education. Since 1991, she has dedicated herself to teaching children in the classroom and as a private math tutor. Mrs. Thurston is a passionate teacher and an inspiring role model of a life long learner.
Mrs. Kristen McNabb
Mrs. McNabb earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from SUNY Cortland and her Master of Arts Teaching English from SUNY Cortland. In addition to being at home with her son who also attends JPII preschool, she has tutored various grade levels at after school programs and a plethora of students for the SATs, ACTs, and GREs. She is a lover of books and teaching writing. She has even taken on writing of her own! Her smile and laugh is her trademark.
Mrs. Daniela Dubovici
Mrs. Dubovici earned an Education Degree from Romania in 1995 and is currently completing her New York State Certification. Mrs. Dubovici was the beloved kindergarten teacher at SS Peter & Paul School since 2007. She speaks four languages and especially enjoys reading with her students.
Mrs. Meghan Wingerter
Mrs. Wingerter volunteered at JPII last year and liked it so much she has come back to help teach. She is teaching part time while finishing her teaching certification.
Miss Emma Bergerstock
Miss Bergerstock is a graduate of our local community college and very excited and grateful to be the JPII preschool teacher.
Mrs. Maureen Angotti
Mrs. Angotti, who has always had a love and appreciation for art and its history, is filling the role as the JPII art teacher.
Miss Amy Bellamy
Ms Bellamy is joining us this year with a wealth of experience as our music teacher.
Jack and Irene O'Neil
Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil are Master Catechists in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester and have been teaching the faith for over thirty years. Mr. O'Neil is a graduate of LeMoyne college and Mrs. O'Neil's education includes the Pontifical Institute for Advanced Study and Holy Cross Catechetical Center. They raised their seven children, retired and are now enjoying contributing to the Catholic Community in numerous charitable ways, while still making time for their grandchildren. They have graciously offered to share their tremendous knowledge of the Catholic faith with the students of JPII.
